It is perfectly clear in studying the New Testament that the followers of Christ were constantly on the move without knowing where they were headed next, whom they would meet, whom they would help, what would happen along the way, and where they would ultimately land. In fact, very few of them seemed to stop at a final destination. There is so much movement in the New Testament, and yet the most apparent instruction they are given does not to me appear to come from a detailed plan of what will happen all along the way.
So what is the most apparent instruction? Follow Jesus. This is exactly what I am learning to do. And for those of us who like to know where we are going before we get there, and for those of us who would like to know everything we should expect along the way, I have news for you. When God asks us to put our trust in Him, He wants us to believe we don’t need to know all the details. He already does. Real trust follows Jesus even without a plan in hand.
Luk 9:23 “And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”
