“This is an action I do not want you to take,” the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart as I headed in the direction of doing something I felt strongly I must do.
The Lord stopped me in my tracks. I turned in another direction. Once upon a time I would have pridefully marched on in the direction I wanted to go. See, I used to live for me. But the Lord shows us in the Bible His followers aren’t to live for self anymore. We are to live for Him. He has transformed me beyond belief and continues to transform me day by day and is so merciful as I learn to walk with Him and repent when necessary.
Too many, I am afraid, call Jesus Lord and call themselves Christians but live for self not for Jesus. This is exactly what I did until the Lord set me straight.
I really wanted to take that action. I truly felt it was best. And oh how the lust of my flesh would have been satisfied! But I no longer live to satisfy self. I live to love and serve and satisfy and worship and glorify the Lord!
Friend, if there is something you’re thinking about doing, or something you have already begun, and it is not the will of God, please don’t do it. Please deny self, take up your cross, and follow the Lord down the pathway of righteousness He sets before you! Amen!
