IN THE REFINING FIRE YOU RISE
“Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:” 1 Peter 1:6-7
My dear friends, to those of you as I am who are in the fiery heat of God’s refining fire, the smoke so thick you feel you cannot see which is yet an opportunity to learn to walk by faith, may this little piece the Spirit of God placed inside my heart minister to you and encourage you to press on in the Lord. Let us rejoice in Jesus Christ even as God leads us through the refining fire. This was written in the midst of the fire. . .
You take me through the fire
Where it’s so hot
I feel that I could melt
But in the midst of the fiery flames oh Lord
You take me into your arms
You teach me your ways
You keep me from the heat
You hold me in the cool gentle healing salve
Of your love and mercy
Oh through the fire my God
I cry out to you and you don’t give me the answers I want
You give me the answer I need
You don’t give me the stuff I long for
Instead you give me the best of all
As you refine me, my faith to you more precious than gold
I am to you precious, my Father and King,
You who fearfully and wonderfully made me
In the thick of the smoke and the raging fire,
You show me the greatest gift of all my Lord
Isn’t that you make me more like you
In the midst of the flames
As though that in itself is not enough
To reveal your glory oh Lord;
It’s that you give me yourself, my glorious God
You rise up in the midst of the fire
So I see no flames at all
Except the flame in my heart that is growing evermore
The flame of my love for you
My blessed beautiful, my beautiful Lord
Oh hold me through the fire, my beloved
Oh hold me through the fire
Make me more like you oh God
Prepare me for forever with you in heaven
Show me your glory so my eyes no longer
Behold the heat of the fire, oh Lord
Help me to focus on you, my Lord
Help me to lean back in your arms
And look to you forevermore!
Oh through the fire oh Lord
I fall ever more in love with you my God, my King
My forever and ever, my forever love!
“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!” Psalms 139:14-17 KJV
