Seeking Jesus

“Wait,” I heard the Holy Spirit speak to my heart. “I want you to do nothing until you seek my face.”

I am a doer by nature. I get restless. I do not like sitting still. I am often on the move. I am a go-getter. A let-me-get-this-done-as-soon-as-possible kind of person. Very proactive. This can be wonderfully helpful in following the Lord Jesus Christ. And can also be a big problem.

Sometimes I go running forward when in fact I need to wait on God to speak to me, to teach me, to prepare me, to lead me, to guide me, to give me rest, etc.

One of the most absolutely vital aspects of being a Jesus follower is that as we love and serve the Lord with all our hearts we must along the way seek God, wait on Him, hear Him, and then obey Him.

How to seek God? Pray, pray, and pray! Listen, listen, listen! Hear the Lord. And act WHEN and AS the Holy Spirit of God leads us!

It is critical we spend time alone with Jesus daily, read the Bible ongoingly, praise and worship and sing to the Lord, draw near to Him, be with Him, learn from Him and of Him, and also stay connected to other Jesus followers who can help us through love, prayer, encouragement, and help discerning the voice of God.

Seeking God is not to be a once-in-a-while occurrence. Seeking God is a crucial part of being a Jesus follower.

Seek, seek, seek the Lord, dear friend. Pray, pray, and keep on praying! Listen and follow the voice of the Lord, AMEN!

“Glory in His holy name; Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the LORD!” Psalms 105:3 NKJV

“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” John 10:27 NKJV
