You and I are commanded to love and serve the Lord with all our hearts, and doing so is to be on HIS TERMS not on ours.
Serving the Lord is to come from a heart filled with love and devotion to Him and is to be in obedience to HIS WILL for HIS GLORY.
We are not to serve God out of obligation with a bad attitude and a desire to simply check something off a list and get our service to Him over and done with. We are to “serve the Lord with gladness (Psalm 100:2)” and to serve Him with passion and fervency and deep care, honor, and adoration. He is God almighty, friend! He is Lord of Lords, King of Kings, Jesus the Christ!
Serving God on our terms means picking and choosing when and how and where and with whom and in what ways we serve Him and who benefits from our service to Him based on what we want and like, what makes us happy and comfortable and feel safe and secure and fits into our schedules in a way pleasing to ourselves, etc. Serving the Lord on His terms means humbling ourselves before Him, seeking and following His will, and forsaking all for Him in serving Him. Not holding back anything. Giving Him our all. No matter the cost to our flesh!
If you realize in reading this that you have not been serving the Lord, repent and serve the Lord. If you realize in reading this that you have been serving Him on your terms and have not truly surrendered all to Him and have not been willing to sacrifice all He desires for Him, repent and yield yourself utterly to the Lord in love, in obedience, and in service to Him that you live henceforth to bring love, honor, praise, reverence, pleasure, joy, and glory to the Lord God almighty who is Christ Jesus Lord and Savior of the world. The one who will reign forevermore, AMEN!
Father, help every single one of us to know your will in how you desire we serve you, give us willingness, provide us with the time and resources necessary, open up doors of opportunity to serve you, give us courage and boldness to do so, give us the gift of your Holy Spirit and don’t just fill us once with your Spirit but fill us over and over and over again, draw us to yourself, live in and through us, oh Lord, and help us to serve you with hearts overflowing with love and joy, AMEN! May we bring glory to your name forevermore! AMEN!
“Serve the LORD with gladness; Come before His presence with singing.” Psalm 100:2
“But take careful heed to do the commandment and the law which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways, to keep His commandments, to hold fast to Him, and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul.”” Joshua 22:5
