Having done about 20 years or so of intensive dog rescue work including having had in my care numerous special needs dogs and having had a sanctuary-like setting in my home environment for some years, I can honestly say I have seen countless dogs up close and personal with which God entrusted me show a love, trust, joy, peace, and Thanksgiving no matter what they went through.
Not that they could speak, mind you. Not that they were believers in and followers of the Lord Jesus Christ as humans are called to be. Not that they read the Bible and praised and worshiped the Lord to no end. But there was, and with the last of my special needs ministry dogs in my care now, remains a simple, sweet, disposition and appearance and attitude of Thanksgiving to their Creator, God, and to me, their Mommie and caregiver and for their little simple and precious lives.
How convicting, and humbling, that so many dogs that have passed through my life have done a better job than I have of living what in my estimate was/is a lifestyle of love, trust, and Thanksgiving. I am most assuredly a work in progress ever in need of more humility, more purification, and more growth – and more love, joy & Thanksgiving! And you?
