Thankful for the Giver!

A loved one long ago warned me to not be more focused on the gifts than the Giver, but truth is I have done that more times than I care to remember. Of course we should be exceedingly thankful for every single blessing God bestows upon us on this earth. But there is truly no greater gift, no greater blessing, than God Himself, than God sending His only Son Jesus Christ to the cross to die to pay our sin penalty and to raise Him from the dead, and than the promise of forever life with God through repentance and turning our hearts and lives over to God and His ways.

The Lord Himself, and everlasting life with Him, is the greatest gift we can ever have. Yet if you’re anything like I am, sometimes I become so focused on what I have from God and what I desire from God and what I am praying to receive from God that I lose sight of being thankful above all else for God Himself and forever and ever with Him! May this be a reminder to us all concerning Thanksgiving that there is no greater gift than God! Thank you Lord!

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” John 3:16-17 KJV
