Today’s Serving Jesus in Your Everyday Life

The Hotel Fire Alarm Story

“Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season…” 2 Tim 4:1

“Let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, And declare His works with rejoicing.” Psalm 107:22

I needed sleep like you wouldn’t believe. So exhausted. So disoriented at first when I finally fell into a deep, deep sleep only to be woken by an unbelievably loud and relentless hotel fire alarm. Scramble, scramble. No longer disoriented. Desperate. Frantic. Hurry, hurry. Five special needs dogs. Two paralyzed. Trying to figure out how to get everyone out, into the car for some of them, into wheelchairs for two, leashes, run to the bathroom for me, oh, they would need to go, what should I take, where were my sneakers, what was I wearing, would I brush my teeth, etc. Honestly, by the time we were all outside in the middle of the night in the hotel parking lot, I barely knew how I had gotten there and what I had managed to accomplish. Discombobulated, understatement.

Then I looked down. And, to my astonishment, around my waist was my special pack filled with Gospel tracts. There was no hotel fire, thank God. All was well. I just wanted to know what I had done in those few minutes of desperately groggily sleepily trying to flee. In the midst of all the madness, without even remembering what I had done, I had grabbed my Gospel tracts just in case the Lord led me to share the Gospel with anyone in the middle of the night as the whole hotel had to evacuate.

Friend, I am an evangelist through and through by God’s calling. It’s in my blood. In my nature. In my bones. It’s as natural to me as breathing. I wouldn’t know what to do if I couldn’t continually tell the world about Jesus. My service to God is always in the context of my calling as an evangelist and writer on the road for Jesus. But serving Jesus in our everyday lives by sharing the Gospel and helping people to follow Jesus is NOT just for evangelists!

God calls all His followers to declare His love, mercy, grace, works, miracles, and glory – Gospel message first and foremost – to all the world around us.

And we should be ready to do this at all times. Sad to say years after I became a Christ follower the Lord showed me I didn’t even know how to share the Gospel message! So He taught me. Trained me. Prepared me.

No matter how God calls you specifically to serve Him in your everyday life, first and foremost know and be prepared to tell the world about Jesus.

Need help learning how? Please feel free to reach out. You can call me at 843-338-2219 or email me at love@GoodNews.love. Best place to learn how is the Bible! God’s Word! And help along the way from Christ’s followers who are solidly grounded in God’s Word is a blessing to help us and encourage us in sharing Jesus with a lost and desperately-in-need-of-Him world!
