When God Tells You to Get Rid of It

When God used to tell me to get rid of something or to let someone go, I hung on for dear life – to the thing or person. I was totally wrong. I had it all backwards. I called Jesus Lord but lived for me not for Him. I held on to the stuff and the people of this world not Jesus. But God has turned me around. He has taught me to live facing the right direction. Not facing the world but facing Him. Not holding onto the world for dear life but holding onto Him for dear life. The world is no longer my first love. Jesus is.

Oh, sure, I love people and am very thankful for the things with which God blesses me. But I no longer live for any of this. I live for God. And I encourage you with all my heart to do the same.

Now when God tells me to get rid of something, or to let someone go, I hold onto the Lord, I cry out to God, trusting Him to give me all I need to let go, and I obey Him. Holding on, holding on – to Jesus. Love of my life forevermore!

Have some letting go to do? Something God wants you to get rid of? Someone God told you to let go?

Hold onto the Lord, cry out to God, seek His strength, and let go. He will enable you to fulfill His will!

“So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.” Luke 14:33 NKJV

“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.” 1 John 2:15-17 NKJV

“Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” Luke 9:23 NKJV

“Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ” Philippians 3:8 NKJV

“Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face evermore!” Psalms 105:4 NKJV
