When Somebody HURTS You

1
When somebody hurts you, it hurts, doesn’t it? There is no getting around it. Hurt hurts. And there are two ways to handle it. You can do what the world teaches. Or you can do what the Word teaches. The world’s way is obvious. Read the newspaper. Turn on the evening news. When was the last time you went 24 hours without witnessing up close and personal or somewhere in the news the latest episode of somebody getting hurt – and somebody responding to that hurt. What if the next time somebody hurt you, you took a different approach?

What if you considered the person who hasn’t stopped hurting you for as long as you can remember and responded differently? What if you turned your back on the world’s way to respond to somebody hurting you and chose to respond God’s way? You might just find a totally different outcome. Regardless of whether the person who hurt you ever hurts you again, can you imagine what it would be like to know you have pleased the Lord in your response?

What if in the midst of all the darkness in this world, you chose the next time somebody hurts you to walk as a child of light? What if your light so shone in the way you responded to someone hurting you that God’s name would be glorified? Can you imagine? Are you ready to try?
