When things get hard, don’t quit what you are clear God has given you to do. Sometimes people have told me when things have become challenging in my ministry work that maybe God was telling me to quit in the area of challenge or to shut down my ministry altogether.
Most assuredly God may lead us to take a break in what He has given us to do, to change courses in what He has given us to do, or to stop altogether what He has given us to do and to do something entirely different. But this message isn’t about that. It’s about facing challenges when God has given us something to do and choosing in His love, grace, strength, mercy, wisdom, direction, comfort, encouragement, power, and provision to persevere. To not quit. To not give up. To persevere. To endure.
Throughout the Bible, God’s children who faithfully loved, honored, and obeyed Him faced great challenges along the way. When they put their trust in God, when they looked to Him to lead, guide, and provide for them, He gave them all they needed to fulfill His will for them. They knew their strength came from God. And God got the glory!
Unless you have prayed, waited on God, and have clarity God has told you to stop what He has given you to do, to take a break, or to change direction, make the decision to endure and look to the Lord to enable you to do so. Do so with trust, joy, and thanksgiving that the Lord may be honored and glorified not just when you have fulfilled what He gives you to do but day by day along the way! AMEN!
Please note in the apostle Paul’s prayer below the mention of being strengthened through the Holy Spirit who lives inside Jesus’ followers. This is a wonderfully encouraging prayer including in its encouragement to be “rooted and grounded in love” and to be “filled with all the fullness of God” and to know “the love of Christ” and in God being able to do more than we can imagine! Let us surrender ourselves utterly to the Lord and experience all this as we press on in doing whatever it is God gives us to do day by day and forevermore, AMEN!
“For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” Ephesians 3:14-21
