No matter what everyone around you does or doesn’t do, right or wrong, good or evil, loving and kind or hurtful, horrendous, and heinous, or somewhere in between, YOU are responsible for YOUR own thoughts, words, and actions.
One day you will stand before the Lord and have to given an account of YOUR life. Not his, not hers, not theirs. YOURS.
Years ago, I was continually pointing the finger at my then husband and pridefully judging and condemning him for how he was treating me, for his life’s choices, for his words and actions and inactions, for just about anything and everything. My then beloved pastor who has since gone to be with the Lord told me essentially this:
“When you stand before the Lord one day, you won’t give an account of his life. You will have to give an account of yours,” he told me, giving me the wisdom of God I so desperately needed but sadly took years to fully understand and make the necessary changes.
NOW is the time to repent, friend. To turn from your sins to the Lord and His ways, to give your life utterly to the Lord and to learn to do right not wrong in the eyes of Christ – NO MATTER WHAT anyone else chooses to do or not do!
Take responsibility for the life the Lord has given YOU and live it FOR HIM!
So easy it is, Lord, for we humans to pridefully point the finger at others and their wrongdoing and wrongly, sinfully refuse to take responsibility for our own. Teach us your ways and help us to walk according to them, Lord! Amen!
“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” Matthew 7:1-5
“But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.” Romans 14:10
“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” 2 Cor. 5:10
